Who We Are

Jan Bernstein, Founder and Managing Director


Jan is the Managing Director of Bernstein & Associates, which she founded in 2004. She  has been facilitating repatriations for over 35 years.

Jan also has 20 years of museum collections management experience and over 20 years of teaching experience. 

She is on the faculty of the National Preservation Institute and has taught webinars for and was featured in videos made by the National NAGPRA Program.

Jane Richardson, Associate


Jane joined Bernstein & Associates in 2019 and has over five years of experience in working with archaeology and ethnographic collections. She’s worked in numerous museum settings whose institutional philosophies incorporate the perspectives of Indigenous peoples such as the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, the School for Advanced Research, and the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. She has also worked with multiple institutions and federal agencies in preparing their collections to comply with NAGPRA.  

Jane holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Florida Atlantic University and an M.S. in Museum and Field Studies from the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Rebecca Andruszka, Executive Assistant


Rebecca has 15 years of experience working with nonprofits and mission-based organizations on fundraising and operations. She joined Bernstein & Associates in 2019 to support grantwriting, scheduling, and communications. She is also the founder of Do Better Consulting, and is based in Denver.
